How to Clean Your Pool Filter
Updated: May 19, 2022
Pool filters are an incredibly important part of your pool's circulatory system. They catch all of the dirt and debris out of the water to keep your pool sparkling clean. However, even the filters need to be cleaned eventually! Follow these 10 steps to maintain the cleanliness of your pool year round.
Turn off the entire pool pump and filtration system.
Release air pressure by turning the air relief valve
Attach a backwash hose and drain filter tank until empty.
Remove the top of filter tank and remove all filters.
Apply cleaning solution to soak for about 10 minutes.
Starting at the top and spraying downward, rinse each filter with a hose.
Lubricate the O-ring. If it's cracked, or looks worn out, you should replace it.
Replace both the cleaned filters and the top, securing it closed
Turn your system back on and check the pressure. If the PSI is off, you may have replaced the filter incorrectly.
Use your system normally!
