Build Your Dream Pool
New Pool Builds
Custom pool design and ground-up construction, from excavation through completion and ongoing maintenance.
What's Included in New Pool Construction
We build pools from start to finish: design, excavation, steel, gunite, tile, decking, finish, and equipment. What makes us different is what happens after. Chris built pools for years before he moved over to the service side. That order matters. Most pool builders never see the pool again after the final walkthrough. They don't find out that the equipment pad was laid out in a way that makes every future repair twice the job. They don't find out how that finish held up after four Texas summers, or which automation system the homeowner gave up on after six months. We do. Our techs are at 635 pools a week, and a lot of those pools were built by somebody else. We see what fails at scale, years after the builder was paid. That's the whole reason for building with us. We choose and place the equipment pad so your pool runs more efficiently. We build beautiful features while thinking about what they will actually cost you in time and money to maintain. We're building you a pool for the next 20 years, not for the day we hand it over. And we don't hand it over. Every new build includes a free year of pool service, and most of our customers stay with us long after that. The people who designed your pool and built it are the same people who keep it running. We're the ones who show up.

Our Pool Construction Process
A new pool is a bigger project than a remodel, and you deserve to know exactly where it stands at every stage. Here’s how a Blue Ocean build runs.
Discovery Consultation
We walk your yard, talk through how you actually want to use the pool, and flag anything about the lot that will shape the build: slope, rock, access, drainage, utilities. You’ll leave the conversation with a clear proposal and transparent pricing.
Design & Engineering
We turn the plan into drawings and material selections: shape, depth, finishes, decking, features, and equipment. You’ll see it before anything is dug.
Permitting & Approvals
We handle permits, inspections, and HOA submittals so you’re not chasing paperwork. This step is often the longest and the least predictable. We’ll tell you honestly where yours stands.
Excavation & Layout
We stake the pool, protect access, and dig. Much of the Austin area sits on limestone and caliche, so this is the stage where the ground tells the truth, and we’ll tell you the same day if it changes anything.
Steel, Plumbing & Gunite
Rebar goes in first, then plumbing and the equipment pad, then the gunite shell, sprayed rather than poured, so the whole structure cures as one piece.
Tile, Decking & Finish
Waterline tile, coping, decking, and your interior finish. This is the stage where it stops looking like a construction site and starts looking like your backyard.
Fill, Startup & Swim
We fill the pool, start up the equipment, and walk you through every piece of it. New plaster needs specific care in the first weeks, and that’s not on you. Your year of service starts here.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about building a pool in the Austin area
New pool construction typically takes 8-12 weeks from permit approval to completion.
Every Blue Ocean build includes a full year of pool service after startup. It means the first year of chemistry, cleaning, and equipment checks on a brand-new pool is handled by the people who built it, which is when it matters most.
We’re still here. That’s the difference between a builder and a service company that builds. Most homeowners stay on service past the first year, but there’s no obligation. The year is included either way.
Yes. Limestone, caliche, and grade changes are normal here, not exceptions. We assess all of it at the consultation so the proposal reflects your actual yard instead of a surprise later.
Yes. Blue Ocean manages permitting and coordinates inspections for new pool construction in Austin and the surrounding communities, including HOA submittals where they apply.
Cost is driven by size, depth, finish, decking, features, and site conditions. We quote from your actual yard, not a square-foot average.
